Private Investigators in Melbourne located at Suite 21/ 300 King Street, Melbourne, Victoria 3000. Strictly by appointment.
Private Investigators are also called Inquiry Agents or private detectives in Melbourne, and we can be hired by the general public, businesses, and the legal profession. We connect the dots to clues to discover factual information regarding personal matters of individuals or a business. We are qualified and experienced to uncover all sorts of information for both criminal and civil cases including family law matters. Relationship & Infidelity investigations are also conducted with the same professionalism.
The work of private investigators in Melbourne depends on the needs of our clients. It may range from investigating suspect workers' compensation claims (where a private investigator may carry out covert surveillance of a target). Or we may be discreetly investigating a person's lunch time activity to determine if he is having an office affair in the middle of the day. When he catches a person in the act, our investigator presents the evidence to the client in the form of a report or photograph.
Private detectives in Melbourne are often hired by businesses to work undercover to catch employees doing the wrong thing.
We always collect evidence in the right manner so that it is admissible in court.
Our investigators also assist in preparing criminal defenses, and locating witnesses for lawyers.
Our Corporate investigators sometimes investigate theft or illegal drug use in the workplace, and ensure that company money is not misused. We may sometimes spend months posing as a worker to gain evidence.
Our private investigators also work for Melbourne retail stores or hotel chains to investigate theft or to report on the level of customer service. This service is also known as Mystery Shopping (Mystery Shopper) in Australia. As private detectives we can also work as loss prevention officers to protect the assets of stores by catching thieves attempting to steal. We prevent theft by both staff and shoplifters.
Our work environment is one of the most diverse having been in the private investigation industry for fifteen years. As private investigators we may spend time away from the office on actual surveillance, but we may also be working in the office most of the day conducting data base searches via the computer or making telephone calls. Over the fifteen years in the private investigation business our working environments have ranged from corporate boardrooms to upmarket bars in another state or country.
Sometimes our detective work may involve confrontation so it may be dangerous at times however the real nature of our work is to obtain information rather than enforcing laws.
All owners of detective agencies have the added stress of having to deal with sometimes very demanding and occasionally unreasonable clients.
Our investigators work various non regular hours because of the need to gather information from situations not available during normal business times.

How does someone become a Licensed Private Investigator in Melbourne?
Prior to the year 2000 a person wanting to obtain a private Investigators license had to seek employment as a trainee for a minimum of twelve months with another licensed private investigator and if he or she was assessed as being competent, they obtained a full investigators license. Alternatively, if a candidate could demonstrate relevant work experience in a related investigative field they could also obtain a license. So people like ex Customs officers or policemen could obtain a full license in the old days - they had to apply to the Court or to the relevant State security industry licensing authority for an inquiry agent or private investigators license.
After 2000, the licensing authority brought out mandatory training requirements like the Certificate IV in Investigative Services. Successful candidates could then become licensed and open a business.
Around 2005, the award was then changed to a Certificate 3 where successful candidates could practice as a private investigator if working for a fully licensed investigator. These investigators would have to work for a fully licensed investigator for a stipulated period of time before applying for an upgraded licence.
